Hi Friends, New and Old.
In October 2023, I joined the community effort to preserve our beautiful and historic 118 year old bridge in Old Stone Fort State Park.
The Old Stone Fort Bridge Preservation Group – an approved 501 (c) (3) non-profit – has 12 directors who have pledged to “do the work” necessary to lead the effort. It is not easy and we need YOUR help.
Our Goals are to “do what is best” for all. Our discussions with fellow citizens indicate 3 primary concerns exist:
- Saving the beauty and value of the bridge as a park asset where families gather making memories.
- Saving the river from ecological and environmental damage.
- Saving the waste of unnecessary spending.
These are our 3 Goals:
1. Save The Bridge
2. Save The River
3. Save The Money
The “Bottom Line” is this:
Instead of spending $8.5 million plus to replace this bridge with a plain, concrete eyesore, reason dictates that the existing historic bridge can be preserved with around $300,000 and last another 75 plus years.
Every person who supports even 1 of these goals – YOU ARE IMPORTANT. WE NEED YOUR HELP.
